Some skid steer door windows slide. Some are fixed in place. It depends on the door design and the machine it fits. Every door we build is cut to fit one family of machines. A Bobcat M Series cab is not shaped like a Case 1840 cab, and the window openings are not in the same places. What works on one machine may not exist on another.

Plenty of sellers will tell you whatever closes the sale. We would rather tell you the truth: window designs vary by model, and the only answer worth having is the one for your machine. That is a 30-second phone call, not a guess.

How our door and window system works

The main piece is the door itself. It is heavy-duty polycarbonate, the same family of material used in equipment glazing where tempered glass is not tough enough. We built the Original Shatterproof Polycarbonate Door, first to market, and it is clear from top to bottom so you can see the bucket, the ground, and everything in between.

The sides of your cab are a separate job. That is what our side window panels are for. They close off the side openings so the enclosure actually encloses. With the door on the front and panels on the sides, the cab holds heat in January and keeps dust and mud out in July.

Everything is CNC-cut and precision fit per make and model. No guesswork. If a window on your setup opens, closes, or slides, that detail is part of the design for your specific machine, which is why we confirm it against your model before you order.

Fixed vs. sliding windows: what each does well

Both styles show up on skid steer cabs, and neither one is better across the board. Here is how they compare in plain terms.

Think about your work before you decide what matters. A snow removal operator wants the tightest seal he can get, because a drafty cab in January is miserable. A guy brush hogging in August wants moving air. Same machine, opposite needs.

• What you want from the windows. Airflow, visibility, or just a sealed cab for winter.
• Any add-ons you are considering. Side window panels, an electric wiper kit, or a cab heater are easier to plan in one order.

Older machines are not a problem

A lot of the window questions we get are about loaders the dealer gave up on years ago. We build doors for older and obsolete machines that nobody else builds enclosures for, including the Case 1840 and the 1845C. If your loader still earns its keep, we can still enclose it.

The process is the same on an old machine as a new one. Tell us the make and model, send a photo if the decals are gone, and we will confirm the door and window setup before you order.

There is a value angle here too. A full enclosure gives the machine an immediate lift in resale value, and that matters most on an older loader. Add side window panels, a cab heater, or an electric wiper kit and the cab works the way it should in any season.

Comfort without cutting corners

The reason people ask about sliding windows is almost always temperature. They want heat kept in during winter and air moving in summer. A full enclosure handles the first part on its own, because the enclosure helps regulate cab temperature.
