Old machines are where we started

Most door companies chase whatever machine rolled off the line last year. We went the other way. Our roots are in building doors for older and obsolete skid steers that nobody else supports, machines like the Case 1840 and 1845C that are still working on farms and job sites all over the country.

Why nobody else supports old skid steers

There is no mystery here. It comes down to volume.

OEM dealers stock parts for the machines they sell now. Once a model has been out of production for a while, replacement doors and glass get hard to order, and eventually they are gone. Big-box accessory stores work the same way. They build for the models with the most owners, because that is where the easy sales are.

That leaves the owner of a 1990s Case 1845C with three bad options: hunt salvage yards for a used OEM door with tempered glass and no warranty, strap on a vinyl cover that flaps and tears, or run with no door at all through winter, dust, and flying debris.

Your options for an old machine, compared

The polycarbonate itself is the reason this comparison is not close. Our doors are heavy-duty polycarbonate (Lexan), the same shatterproof material behind our hammer test, where owner Leighton smashes a hammer into our 1/2 inch thick CAT D door on camera, unedited. Tempered glass from a salvage yard cannot take that kind of hit. Protection from flying debris is superior to tempered glass, and a sealed door helps regulate cab temperature in both summer and winter.

The warranty does not care how old your machine is

This is the part that surprises people. Buy a door for a 1988 Case 1840 and you get the same coverage as the owner of a brand-new machine: a limited lifetime warranty against door failure or breakage: one free replacement for life for the original owner, under normal conditions. Hardware is covered for 3 months.

That coverage matters more on an old machine, not less. The whole point of this purchase is to stop worrying about the weakest part of the cab. If the door ever fails or breaks under normal conditions, the original owner gets one replacement free.
