Yes. A skid steer door fits your machine the same way whether you run a mulcher, a bucket, or a set of forks. The door mounts to the cab opening on your loader. The mulcher hangs on the quick-attach plate out front. The two never touch. Order the door built for your make, model, and series, and the attachment makes no difference at all. In fact, mulching is the single best reason to put a door on.
The door fits the machine, not the attachment
This is the part that trips people up, so let’s keep it simple. A mulcher connects to your loader at the quick-attach plate and the hydraulic couplers. A door connects to your cab opening at the hinge points. Two different parts of the machine, doing two different jobs.
That is why we never ask what attachment you run when you take an order. We ask for your make, model, and series. Every door panel is CNC-cut for one exact machine, while the included instructions identify the required mounting steps. Swap the mulcher for a grapple next week and the door does not care.
The one thing that does matter is the machine itself. A door for a Bobcat M Series will not fit a CAT D Series. Get the model right and the fit takes care of itself.
Mulching is exactly when you want a door
A drum or disc mulcher throws material all day. Chips, bark, rocks, and chunks of hardwood come back toward the cab at high speed. An open cab is a bad place to sit while that happens, and a factory tempered glass door is not much better.
Heavy-duty polycarbonate (Lexan) offers protection superior to tempered glass. That is why forestry and land-clearing crews are some of our steadiest customers, and why our guide to skid steer doors for forestry mulching goes deeper on this exact kind of work. If you want to see the difference between the two materials spelled out, read our polycarbonate vs tempered glass comparison.
Want proof instead of talk? Watch our owner Leighton smash a hammer into our 1/2 inch thick CAT D door on camera, unedited, in the hammer test. That is the same door that ships to mulching operators every week.
A door also seals the cab. Mulching means dust, and a lot of it. A closed cab keeps the worst of it off your face and out of your lungs, and the enclosure helps regulate cab temperature on a long August land-clearing job.
Mulching is a hard life for a door. That is what the warranty is for. Every door carries a limited lifetime warranty against door failure or breakage: one free replacement for life for the original owner, under normal conditions. Hardware is covered for 3 months.
What affects fit and what does not
Here is the whole fit question in one table.
| Affects door fit | Does not affect door fit |
|---|---|
| Make: ASV, Bobcat, CAT, Case, Gehl, John Deere, Kubota, Mustang, Manitou, New Holland, Takeuchi, Terex | Mulcher brand or style (drum or disc) |
| Model and series (an M Series door will not fit a G Series) | Standard flow or high flow hydraulics |
| Whether your machine came with a factory door frame | Any other attachment: bucket, grapple, auger, forks |
One note on that last row. If your machine never came with a factory door, you are not stuck. We build a door frame kit for machines that shipped without one, so a door can still mount. Call us and we will tell you if your machine needs it.
Mulching machines in our catalog
Mulchers pull serious hydraulic power, so most of them run on the bigger high-flow track loaders. The machines we see most often on mulching work are all in our catalog:
| Machine | Door | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| CAT D Series | CAT D Series Skid Steer Door, the 1/2 inch hammer-test door | $1,595 |
| Kubota SVL | Kubota SVL Skid Steer Door | $1,595 |
| Bobcat M Series (S and T models) | Bobcat M Series Skid Steer Door | $1,695 |
| Takeuchi TL R2/V2 Series | Takeuchi TL 12/10/8 R2/V2 Series Skid Steer Door | $1,795 |
Run something that is not on this list? We build doors for twelve brands, including older machines nobody else builds enclosures for. If it is one of the makes in the table above, odds are good we have your door.
What’s in the box
Every door kit arrives ready to go on your machine:
- The CNC-cut heavy-duty polycarbonate door, sized to your exact model
- Hinges
- Handle with locking latch and keys
- Weather seal gasket
- All nuts, bolts, and washers
All supplied hardware and printed instructions are included. The door panel was cut for your machine before it left the shop; mounting requirements still vary by exact model.
Shipping is UPS 3 Day Air, $150 flat, typically 3 business days after the door leaves our shop (not guaranteed). We ship across the US and Canada. Production and installation timing vary by exact model and required mounting steps.
Not sure about your exact model? Call us
Fit questions are faster on the phone. If you do not know your model number, or your machine is older, or something about your cab looks different from the pictures, do not order blind. Call or text (800) 781-8000 and tell us what you are running. We will figure out what you have and tell you straight whether we build a door for it.
That goes double for mulching operators. You are buying this door to sit behind it while a drum throws wood at you. A two minute phone call is worth it to get the right one the first time.
The short version
The mulcher never touches the door, so it can never block the fit. The door fits your cab, the mulcher fits your quick-attach, and the two do their jobs on opposite ends of the machine. Order by make, model, and series, and put the door on before the mulching season starts, not after the first rock finds the cab.
