Why a polycarbonate door needs a wiper
Our doors are heavy-duty polycarbonate. That is why they shrug off the rocks and branches that shatter tempered glass. But no door material keeps itself clear. Rain beads up, mud splatters, and wet snow packs on. The better your enclosure seals, the more you depend on that front sheet for everything you see.
Here is the problem with the obvious fix. Wiping a dirty polycarbonate door with a dry rag drags grit across the surface, and dragged grit is what puts fine scratches in poly. A wiper fixes both problems at once. The blade runs when the door is already wet, so it is not grinding dry grit into the surface. And you never have to stop, climb out, and wipe by hand. In a fall rain or a spring thaw, that is the difference between finishing the job and babysitting your door.

One caution on sprays: polycarbonate does not tolerate every chemical that glass does. Read the label before you put any product on a poly door, and skip anything with ammonia or harsh solvents.
Do you actually need one?
Honest answer: not every operator does. If your machine lives in a dry climate, sits parked from November to March, or only works fair weather days, you can get by without a wiper and add one later if that changes.

Install overview: what to expect
This is a mount-and-wire-up job. Plan on about an hour with basic hand tools. Here is the shape of it.
- Mount the motor. The kit was built for our doors, so the motor mounts cleanly to the door panel without cutting or guesswork.
- Fit the arm and blade. Set the park position so the blade rests at the edge of the door, then check that the sweep covers your main viewing area.
- Run the wiring. Route the harness into the cab and pick up switched 12 volt power, so the wiper shuts down with the machine.
- Test it wet. Hose the door down and run the wiper through a few cycles. Never run the blade on a dry door.

Three habits that keep the view clear
- Only run the wiper wet. Water is the lubricant between the blade and the poly. A dry pass does the same thing a dry rag does.
- Lift or park the blade for dry, dusty work. Summer grading throws dust you do not want trapped under a rubber edge.
- Replace the blade when it streaks. A tired blade drags instead of sweeping. Blades are cheap. A clear view on a dark, wet afternoon is not.
