Is My Skid Steer Door in Stock? Made to Order, Explained

Wondering if your skid steer door is in stock? Here is the straight answer: it varies. Every door we build is CNC cut for one specific make and model, so some doors are ready to ship the day you order, and others are built for you when the order comes in. Stock changes week to week. The fastest way to know is to call or text (800) 781-8000 with your make and model. We will give you the current lead time on the spot.

That answer is not a dodge. It is how a real shop that builds precision-fit doors actually works. Here is why, and how to get a firm timeline for your machine in about two minutes.

Why we do not run a giant warehouse

We build doors for 12 brands: ASV, Bobcat, CAT, Case, Gehl, John Deere, Kubota, Mustang, Manitou, New Holland, Takeuchi, and Terex. Under those 12 brands sit dozens of series and model years, and each one needs its own door.

A Bobcat M Series door will not fit a Bobcat G Series. A CAT D Series door will not fit an A or B Series. The cutouts, the hinge points, the latch position, and the seal lines are different on every machine.

So instead of piling up one-size-fits-none doors on shelves, we keep popular models moving through the shop and build the rest as orders come in. Some weeks your door is sitting finished and ready to ship. Other weeks it goes on the CNC table after you order. That is the honest picture.

What “made to order” actually means

Made to order does not mean slow, and it does not mean improvised. It means your door is handcrafted for your exact machine, the same way we have built the Original Shatterproof Polycarbonate (Lexan) Door since we were first to market.

Every door starts as heavy-duty polycarbonate and gets CNC cut to the exact pattern for your make and model. The panel arrives shaped for the correct opening, with the supplied hardware and printed instructions included. Mounting requirements still vary by exact model. If you want the deeper story on why CNC cutting matters, read our guide on why CNC-cut doors fit better.

It is also the reason our doors hold up. Owner Leighton takes a hammer to our 1/2 inch thick CAT D Series door on camera, unedited, and the door wins. You do not get that from a bargain panel pulled off a big-box shelf.

Made to order is also why we can cover old machines

Here is the part most operators do not expect. Because we build per model instead of stocking a narrow list, we can make doors for machines the OEM dealers gave up on years ago.

Running a Case 1845C? We build a door for it, $1395, cut to fit like it came from the factory. Same for the Case 1840 and plenty of other machines nobody else supports. See our full guide on doors for older skid steers.

A warehouse-only seller cannot do that. Shelf space goes to whatever sells fastest, and older machines get dropped. A made-to-order shop just loads your pattern and cuts.

Off-the-shelf universal door vs. made-to-order door

Question Universal door from a big-box accessory store Made-to-order CNC-cut door from us
Fits your exact model? Close enough, maybe. Expect gaps. Yes. Cut to your make and model.
Drilling or trimming needed? Often. The panel is precision-cut; mounting is model-specific and may require drilling and bolting.
Covers older or discontinued machines? Rarely. Yes, including machines like the Case 1840 and 1845C.
Material Varies. Check the fine print. Heavy-duty polycarbonate (Lexan).
Warranty on the door Check the fine print. Limited lifetime warranty.
Availability On the shelf until discontinued. Built for your machine. Stock varies, so call for lead time.

One note on that warranty line, because we do not want you guessing. Every door carries our limited lifetime warranty against door failure or breakage: one free replacement for life for the original owner, under normal conditions. Hardware is covered for 3 months.

How to check availability on your door

What to have ready when you call or text:

  • Your machine’s make (Bobcat, CAT, Case, and so on)
  • The model or series, if you know it (M Series, D Series, 1845C)
  • The year, if you have it
  • Where the door is shipping to

Then it takes three steps:

  1. Call or text (800) 781-8000, Mon–Fri 7am–4pm CST.
  2. Tell us the make and model. We will tell you whether your door is ready to ship or going into the build queue, and quote the current lead time.
  3. If the timeline works, order. Your door ships by UPS 3 Day Air, $150 flat, typically 3 business days (not guaranteed), once it leaves the shop.

Not sure of your model number? Call anyway. Plenty of operators are not, and we sort out machines by description every day. You can also use the Find Your Door tool on the site and match the photo to what is sitting in your yard. For the full shipping picture, see how long shipping takes.

Why we quote lead times by phone instead of posting them

Posted lead times go stale. A number that was true in June can be wrong by the first week of September, and we would rather tell you the truth than let a webpage make a promise the shop schedule cannot keep.

Lead time on any given door depends on what is already in the queue, which models are moving that month, and the season. When you call, you get today’s answer for your exact door, not a site-wide average that fits nobody.

Order ahead of the fall rush

One practical tip: our busy season starts at the beginning of September, when snow contractors and farmers all want an enclosed cab before the cold hits. Orders stack up fastest from fall into winter.

If you already know you want a door on your machine this winter, the smart move is to order in summer. You get ahead of the queue, and the door is on your machine before the first cold snap instead of somewhere in the build schedule during the rush.

Whenever you are ready, checking on your door costs you a two-minute phone call. Worst case, you learn the timeline. Best case, your door is ready now.
