CAT Skid Steer Door Guide: D, A, B and B3 Series

If you run a CAT skid steer or compact track loader, we build a shatterproof polycarbonate (Lexan) door for it. Two doors cover most of the CAT lineup: the CAT D Series door at $1595 and the CAT A/B/B3 Series door at $1395. Both are CNC-cut for a precision fit on your exact model, ship with the supplied hardware and printed instructions, and carry a limited lifetime warranty. Which CAT door fits your machine

Start with your model number. It is on the serial plate, usually inside the cab or near the boom. The letter after the number tells you the series.

The CAT D series door: the one we hit with a hammer

The CAT D Series door is 1/2 inch thick polycarbonate. That number is not a brochure claim. Our owner, Leighton, took a hammer to this exact door on camera. One take, no edits, full swings. The door took the hits and kept working. You can watch it in our hammer test guide.

Why does that matter to you? Because the front door is what sits between your face and whatever the bucket kicks back. Brush, rock, fence wire, hydraulic fittings under pressure. Tempered glass shatters into a cab full of pieces when something hard hits it. Polycarbonate flexes, takes the hit, and stays in the frame.

The D Series door fits the D3 machines listed in the table above, from the 226D3 up through the 299D3 XE. If you run a D model that is not on the list, call or text us and we will check it against our patterns.

At $1595, it is priced below what most OEM dealers charge for a factory glass door, and you are getting a door built to survive the work instead of just seal out the weather.

The CAT A/B/B3 series door

The A, B, and B3 machines are the workhorses of the used market. A lot of them left the dealer as open-cab machines, or the original door gave up years ago. Either way, the machine still earns its keep, and the operator still deserves a door.

Our CAT A/B/B3 Series door covers a wide run of models: 216 through 287, including the B and B3 updates of each. It is the same build approach as every door we make. Heavy-duty polycarbonate, CNC-cut to the exact cab opening, shipped with the hardware to mount it. No trimming, no guesswork.

At $1395, this door is a straightforward way to put life back into an older CAT. An enclosed cab means warm hands in January, less dust in July, and a machine that shows better when it is time to sell. Buyers pay more for a loader with a clean, sealed cab, so the door gives your machine an immediate lift in resale value.

Why polycarbonate instead of tempered glass

We were first to market with the shatterproof polycarbonate door, and the reasons operators switch have not changed:

• Safety. Polycarbonate offers protection superior to tempered glass. Glass is fine until the day it is not. Polycarbonate absorbs impact instead of shattering.
• Comfort. A sealed enclosure helps regulate cab temperature. Heat stays in during winter, dust and wind stay out all year.
• Value. An enclosed cab lifts resale value the day you install it, and the door itself is covered by a limited lifetime warranty against door failure or breakage: one free replacement for life for the original owner, under normal conditions.

What’s in the box

Every CAT door ships as a complete kit, not a bare sheet of plastic:

• The CNC-cut polycarbonate door, sized to your series
• Handle and locking latch, with keys
• Hinges
• Weather seal gasket
• All nuts, bolts, and washers

Because the panel is CNC-cut to your machine’s exact cab opening, it does not need trimming to fit. Mounting tools and timing vary: some models bolt straight on and others call for drilling and bolting, and the printed instructions for your machine are in the box. While you have the tools out, a lot of CAT owners add an electric wiper kit or a cab heater at the same time. We stock both, along with side window panels and LED light bars.

Compare that to the OEM route: dealer pricing on factory glass doors is usually higher, lead times stretch longer, and you end up with glass again, which is the thing that failed in the first place. Big-box accessory stores sell vinyl covers for less, but fabric does not stop a branch and it does not add a dime at resale.
