Need a door for your Gehl? Here is the short answer. We build shatterproof polycarbonate doors for Gehl R series skid steers and RT series track loaders, priced from $1495 to $1795 depending on the model. Every door is CNC-cut to fit your exact machine, ships with the supplied hardware and printed instructions, and is backed by our limited lifetime warranty against door failure or breakage. Shipping is UPS 3 Day Air at a $150 flat rate, typically 3 business days (not guaranteed).
This guide covers which Gehl models we fit, what the door costs, what comes in the box, and how the install goes. If you would rather just talk to a person, call or text (800) 781-8000, Mon-Fri 7am-4pm CST.
Which Gehl models we cover
Gehl runs two main lines in the compact loader world. The R series machines are wheeled skid steers. The RT series machines are compact track loaders. We build doors for both.
| Your machine | The door you need | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Gehl R105 or RT105 | Gehl R105 / RT105 Skid Steer Door | $1495 |
| Gehl R135, R165, RT135, or RT165 | Gehl R135/165 / RT135/165 Series Skid Steer Door | $1795 |
These are not vinyl covers or universal panels cut down to sort of fit. Each one is The Original Shatterproof Polycarbonate (Lexan) Door, built as a precision part for the Gehl cab opening it belongs to. We were first to market with this door, and we still build every one to fit a specific make and model.
Not sure which Gehl you have? You are not alone. Plenty of the owners who call us do not know their model number off the top of their head. Check the serial plate on your machine, or just call and describe the loader. We will figure it out together.
Running an older Gehl that is not in the table? Call anyway. We build doors for older and obsolete machines that nobody else supports, and we would rather check than have you assume you are out of luck.
Why put a hard door on a Gehl
Three reasons, and they are the same three we hear from Gehl owners every week.
Safety. An open cab puts your face in line with whatever the machine throws back at you. Brush, fence wire, hydraulic hose failures, rocks kicked up by the tracks. Polycarbonate takes hits that shatter tempered glass, which is why we call it protection superior to glass and why we put it in front of operators in the first place. If you want the full breakdown, read our guide on polycarbonate vs tempered glass doors.
Want proof instead of talk? Watch our hammer test. Our owner Leighton swings a hammer into our 1/2 inch CAT D door on camera, unedited. The Gehl doors are built from the same heavy-duty polycarbonate.
Comfort. A sealed door turns an open cab into a real workspace. The enclosure helps regulate cab temperature, so you keep heat in during a January cleanout and dust out during an August brush job. More comfort means longer, better work days. It is that simple.
Value. A machine with a proper enclosure sells for more than the same machine with an open cab. The door pays you back the day you list the loader, and it protects you every day before that.
What is in the box
Everything you need to hang the door arrives together. No trips to the hardware store, no mystery bag of leftover bolts.
- CNC cut polycarbonate door, shaped for your exact Gehl model
- Hinges
- Handle with locking latch and keys
- Weather seal gasket
- All nuts, bolts, and washers
The supplied hardware is included, and the door itself does not need trimming. Mounting varies by exact model: some kits use existing factory points, while others require drilling and bolting where the included instructions direct.
Installing the door on your Gehl
Many owners handle the install themselves, but required tools and whether a helper is recommended vary by exact model. Some kits bolt straight on and others require drilling and bolting, so follow the printed instructions in the box. Take your time on the weather seal, because that seal is what keeps the cab warm when the snow starts flying.
We cover tools, steps, and common mistakes in our full install guide. Read it before the box arrives and the job will go smoother.
One caution. Some machines use door switches or safety interlocks, and setups vary. Do not guess at how yours works. Call us at (800) 781-8000 and we’ll walk you through your machine’s setup.
Gehl and Mustang: close cousins
Gehl and Mustang compact loaders share a lot of parts and cab shapes. That is why we also build a door for the Mustang 1050R and 1050RT at the same $1495 price point as the Gehl R105 and RT105 door.
If you run machines from both brands, or you are shopping a used Mustang alongside your Gehl, our Mustang skid steer door guide covers that side of the family.
Price, shipping, and warranty in plain terms
What you pay. The door itself is $1495 for the R105 and RT105, or $1795 for the R135, R165, RT135, and RT165. Shipping is a $150 flat rate, period. No surprise freight quote after checkout.
How it ships. UPS 3 Day Air, $150 flat, typically 3 business days (not guaranteed). Weather and mechanical delays happen, but most doors are on the machine the same week they leave our shop. We ship across the US and Canada.
How it is covered. Every door carries our limited lifetime warranty against door failure or breakage: one free replacement for life for the original owner, under normal conditions. Hardware like hinges and latches is covered for 3 months. That warranty exists because we build these doors to outlast the machine, and we put our own name behind that.
Before you buy anywhere, price a factory glass door through an OEM dealer and check the lead time. Most Gehl owners who call us have already done that math, and it is usually why they are calling.
Accessories worth adding while you are at it
A door is the main event, but a few add-ons finish the job.
- Electric wiper kit, $229. Designed for our doors, with everything you need to install it. If you plow snow or work in rain, get the wiper.
- Cab heater, $119. A compact ceramic heater and fan that hooks straight to your machine’s battery. Pair it with the sealed door and winter work changes completely.
- Side window panels. Close up the rest of the cab for full enclosure.
- LED light bar. More light for early mornings and late finishes.
- Door frame kits. For machines that never came with a factory door frame at all.
Quick answers for Gehl owners
How much is a Gehl skid steer door? $1495 to $1795 USD depending on the model, plus $150 flat shipping.
Will it fit without cutting the door? Yes. Every door is CNC-cut for your exact model, so the door itself does not need trimming. Mounting varies by model: some kits use existing factory points, while others require drilling and bolting where the included instructions direct.
Is it in stock? Call or text (800) 781-8000 and we will give you a straight answer on your model and current lead time.
What if my Gehl is not listed? Call us. Between the R and RT series doors, the Mustang line, and our work on older machines, there is a good chance we can cover you.
A Gehl with an open cab is a machine that is not finished. The Original Shatterproof Door adds safety, comfort, and resale value, and the limited lifetime warranty means you only buy it once. Installation timing depends on the exact model and the mounting steps in its printed instructions.
