New Holland Skid Steer Door Guide: D to Alpha Max

If your New Holland skid steer needs a door, we build one that fits it. Skid Steer Doors of North America makes shatterproof polycarbonate doors for four New Holland cab styles: the D Series, the L Series with Vertical Lights, the Alpha Series, and the Alpha Max Series. Prices run $1,395 to $1,695. Every door is CNC-cut for a precision fit to your cab opening and carries a limited lifetime warranty. Here is how to tell which cab you have and which door to order.

First, Figure Out Which New Holland You Have

New Holland has changed its model names more than once over the years, and plenty of these machines are on their second or third owner. The dealer sticker is gone and the manual went missing a decade ago. That is normal, and it does not have to slow you down.

Start with the model number. It is usually on the serial plate on the machine’s frame, and often on the boom or rear door decals too.

What you see on the machine Your door Price
L160 / L170 / L175 / L180 / L185 D Series door $1,395
LS160 / LS170 / LS180 / LS190 D Series door $1,395
LX665 / LX865 / LX885 / LX985 D Series door $1,395
C175 / C185 / C190 / Z190 D Series door $1,395
L or C model with tall vertical taillights up the rear corners L Series with Vertical Lights door $1,495
A model that never came with a factory door Alpha Series door kit $1,695
Alpha Max cab Alpha Max Series door $1,595

Can’t read the plate, or the model number is not on this list? Text a photo of your machine and its serial plate to (800) 781-8000 and we will identify it for you. Two minutes of texting beats ordering the wrong door.

Every New Holland Door We Build

Each door below ships as a complete kit, CNC-cut from heavy-duty polycarbonate for the exact cab opening of that series. No guesswork, no trimming to fit, no hunting for hardware.

D Series Door, $1,395

The New Holland D Series door covers the workhorses: the L160, L170, L175, L180, and L185, the LS160, LS170, LS180, and LS190, the LX665, LX865, LX885, and LX985, plus the C175, C185, C190, and Z190.

A lot of these machines have been earning their keep for 20 years or more, and most door makers stopped supporting them long ago. We didn’t. Building enclosures for machines everyone else forgot is part of why this company exists, and the D Series door is a prime example. If you run an older LX or LS, read our guide to doors for older skid steers to see why a $1,395 door makes so much sense on a paid-off machine.

L Series with Vertical Lights Door, $1,495

The name tells you exactly how to spot this one. Walk to the back of your machine. If the taillights sit in tall vertical housings that run up the rear corners of the cab, the L Series with Vertical Lights door is your door. If you are still unsure, text us a photo and we will confirm it before you spend a dime.

The installation manual for this kit is available as a download, so you can read through the whole job before the box even arrives.

Alpha Series Door, $1,695

Here is the one that surprises people. The New Holland Alpha Series kit is built for New Holland models that never had a factory mounted door at all. If your machine came from the factory with an open doorway and nothing to hang a door on, this kit solves it: door, hinges, latch hardware, and weather seal, engineered as one package.

That matters because you cannot walk into a dealer and order a door for a machine that never offered one. We build what the factory skipped. For model-specific details, see our New Holland Alpha door page.

Alpha Max Series Door, $1,595

The Alpha Max Series door fits New Holland’s Alpha Max generation cab. Like the others it is CNC-cut for that specific cab opening, comes as a complete kit with hinges and hardware, and includes install instructions you can download and read ahead of time.

What’s in the Box

One box, one complete kit. Every New Holland door includes:

  • The door itself, heavy-duty polycarbonate, CNC-cut to your series
  • Door handle
  • Locking latch with keys
  • Hinges
  • Weather seal gasket
  • All nuts, bolts, and washers

The door locks with a key, and the gasket seals out wind, dust, and rain. The supplied components arrive together, and the printed instructions identify the mounting work for your exact model.

What the Install Looks Like

If your New Holland already has a door, you remove the old one and install our kit according to the instructions for your exact model. The door is CNC-cut for your cab opening, but mounting varies: some kits use existing factory points, while others require drilling and bolting.

If your machine never had a door, the Alpha kit is built for exactly that, so there is no old door to deal with first.

Review the printed instructions before scheduling the work because tools, mounting steps, timing, and whether a helper is recommended vary by model. Never cut, weld, or modify a certified ROPS or FOPS structure. Some machines also tie the door into safety interlocks; never modify or bypass those systems. If you have any question about how the door works with them, call us at (800) 781-8000 and we’ll walk you through your machine’s setup.

Why Polycarbonate Beats Glass on a New Holland

Tempered glass has one trick, and it is a bad one. It holds until something hits it right, then it lets go all at once and rains down inside the cab. A branch kicked up by the bucket, a chunk of concrete, a chain that slips, and now you are running an open cab in January while you wait on a dealer quote.

Polycarbonate takes the hit and flexes. Our owner Leighton proved it on camera by smashing a hammer into our 1/2 inch thick CAT D door, unedited, and the door won. Every New Holland door we ship is built from the same family of heavy-duty polycarbonate with the same purpose: keep whatever the job throws at you on the outside of the cab. The full breakdown is in our guide to polycarbonate vs. tempered glass doors.

The payoff shows up three ways. Safety: protection superior to tempered glass between you and the job. Comfort: a sealed cab holds heat in winter and keeps dust and wind out the rest of the year. Value: an enclosed cab lifts what your machine is worth the day you sell it.

Round Out the Cab While You’re At It

A door gets you most of the way to a sealed cab. These add-ons finish the job:

  • Side window panels, $399: polycarbonate side windows that close in the rest of the cab for a full enclosure
  • Electric wiper and motor, $229: clear vision in rain, mud, and snow
  • Interior cab heater, $119: the difference between running in January and parking in January
  • LED light bar, $99: for the days that start before sunrise and end after dark

Order them with the door and everything shows up in one shipment, ready for the model-specific installation described in the included instructions.
